Day 1:

Morning arrival at Vientiane Airport where you will be greeted by your English speaking guide. Transfer to hotel and then free to take lunch in one of the many local restaurants.  After lunch, the day will be devoted to exploring the city and its monuments. You start at Wat Si Saket which houses over 10,000 statues of Buddha and was built in 1818;so it is the newest of the temples of Vientiane. Then you continue to Wat Ho Prakeo, a former private royal chapel, followed by Patuxay, this replica of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris gives stunning views across the city. Finally, the most important national monument in Laos - That Luang. This tall, golden stupa has a religious role and symbolises the unity of the country. Return to your hotel.

Day 2:

The morning is devoted to discovering the several markets in Vientiane. The morning market ( Talat Sao) is the most central and most famous;  you can make purchases of all kinds (crafts, antiques & jewellery being some of the most popular). Then, you visit the two food markets, giving a real insight into the lives of the local people. In late morning, if we have enough time, you go to Wat Si Muang, where the atmosphere is one of prayer and meditation.

Lunch (not included) followed by a 45 minute journey to the Buddha Park. On the way, you can stop to take pictures of the Friendship Bridge linking Laos & Thailand. You arrive at Buddha Park, where you can admire a collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures located in the twists and turns of the meandering Mekong (24 km from the center of Vientiane). Take your time to discover and enjoy this special place before heading back to the capital

Day 3:

In late morning you leave for the village of Tha Ngon overlooking the Nam Ngum River. We climb to an enormous restaurant built on thousands of floating bamboo rafts. You take a closed platform that is towed by a boat along the river. Lunch is taken during the descent of the river following the unhurried pace of the Nam Ngum.

After lunch you continue your journey to the zoo at Thulakhom. It is without doubt the finest and largest in the country; with the exception of deer, bears and some monkeys, the zoo animals live in freedom. It is home to many crocodiles in pools and you walk across wooden footbridges that span these areas. Back to Vientiane.

Day 4:
